This was an interesting read and I found myself generally disposed to agree with the author.. That said there were few definitive statements to agree or disagree with. Coming from a reformed background I found myself agreeing with his observations on the priority for sermon preparations because I was filling in the background context to what he was saying. I found much of what he was saying was implied rather than explicit.

There was a sense that renewal was possible if there was a willingness to change. Yes there was an acknowledged dependency on God but there was no sense in which God's sovereignty in allowing a local church to close was considered.
